Restaurant Asia 2022 Recap: TBESFOOD at Booth RC20, Singapore

From 19 to 21 May 2022, TBESFOOD exhibited at Restaurant Asia 2022, booth RC20, at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The third edition of the show was organised by the Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) with Conference Exhibition Management Services (CEMS), and ran alongside International Coffee & Tea Asia, Cafe Asia and Sweets & Bakes Asia.

A trade show run by restaurateurs

RAS describes Restaurant Asia as a show for the industry, by the industry, and it is supported by the ASEAN Restaurant Association Alliance, with members from the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia. The first two days were open to trade visitors only, so the people at our booth were the ones who order seafood every week: chefs, restaurant owners, caterers and the distributors who supply them.

For an exporter, that is a different conversation from a seafood-only show. A chef wants to know how a fillet behaves in the pan, how even the portions are and how much of the carton weight is ice. Those are the questions our booth was set up to answer.

What we put in front of chefs

The booth showed the lines a restaurant kitchen uses most: pangasius fillets and steaks, vannamei shrimp, shrimp skewers and freshwater prawns, with product samples in the display freezer. Every panel carried the TBES sail logo, our line "Grown in trust", and the BRCGS Food Safety, HACCP and Halal marks.

For foodservice buyers we kept the specs simple: portion and size grade, freezing method, glaze and net weight, and carton size. Our pangasius and frozen shrimp pages list the same details today.

Four members of our sales and export team ran the booth in navy TBES polos, handing out brochures and tote bags and taking follow-up contacts for samples and price lists.

Back in Singapore four months later

Restaurant Asia opened our 2022 season in Singapore. In September the team came back for Seafood Expo Asia 2022 at Suntec Singapore, this time to meet importers and distributors from across the region. Every show since then, with dates, booth numbers and recaps, is listed on our Expo page.
