Seafood Expo Asia 2022 Recap: TBESFOOD in Singapore

From 14 to 16 September 2022, the TBESFOOD team exhibited at Seafood Expo Asia at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. It was the tenth edition of the show and the first held in Singapore. It was also the first time the show had met in person in four years, since the 2018 edition in Hong Kong.

It was our second Singapore show of 2022, four months after Restaurant Asia 2022 in May.

Why Singapore mattered for a Vietnamese exporter

The organiser, Diversified Communications, moved Seafood Expo Asia to Singapore to bring buyers from Southeast and East Asia to one place. After two years of online-only editions, buyers came back to see and handle product in person.

For a Vietnamese exporter the move made sense. Singapore is a short sailing from Vietnamese ports and a trading hub for importers who supply markets across Southeast Asia.

What we brought to the booth

Every panel on the stand carried the TBES sail logo and our line, "Grown in trust", along with the BRCGS Food Safety, HACCP and Halal marks. The display freezer held frozen vannamei shrimp, pangasius fillets and value-added lines, including breaded octopus, so buyers could judge the product itself.

Conversations started at the freezer

Most meetings began the same way. A buyer picked up a pack, read the label and photographed the specs for the purchasing team back home. Brochures and a product video on the side wall covered the rest, and the conversation moved on to sizes, packing and shipment schedules.

The team behind the stand

The stand was run by our sales and export team, in black uniforms and the orange TBES scarf. Visitors left with a TBES tote bag, our brochure and a direct contact for follow-up.

Since Singapore

Since Seafood Expo Asia 2022, the team has exhibited at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, the Seoul Seafood Show, Vietfish, China Fisheries & Seafood Expo in Qingdao, SIAL Shanghai, THAIFEX Anuga Asia in Bangkok and Seafood Expo North America in Boston.
